Lights, Camera, Action! The Samsung Galaxy M53 5G is a hidden gem. Released in April 2022, the M53 5G was ahead of its time as no other Samsung device could boast the 108.0 MP rear camera when it was released. Packing a 5000mAh battery, a giant Super AMOLED Plus 6.7inch 1080 x 2400 Full HD+ screen, the signature side-mounted fingerprint sensor and a 5G chip onboard, the Samsung Galaxy M53 5G looked like a device in a league of its own.
Powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 900 CPU, with 8GB RAM and a generous 128GB storage which is expandable up to 1TB with a MicroSD card, you do not have to worry about speed and multitasking ability. Another trick up the Galaxy M53 5G’s sleeve is the “RAM Plus” feature which provides intelligent RAM expansion with the use of internal storage as virtual RAM.
On the Sim slot side, Samsung opted for the not so liked Sim + Hybrid, which is dual sim by design but the second sim slot doubles as a MicroSD card slot too, which means you can either have 2 sims or 1 sim + 1 MicroSd card at one time.
Samsung decided to fit its own camera with a huge 108 megapixel as the main on the rear, as part of a quad lens setup with a 108MP (F1.8) primary, 8MP (F2.2) megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera, a 2MP (F2.4) macro camera and 2MP (F2.4) depth sensor. You also get a 32MP front selfie camera.
The battery on the Samsung Galaxy M53 is 5000mAh, which is quite plenty for the device, keeps the weight to a minimum and lasts a whole day without needing a recharge. You do not get a charger in the box but the Galaxy M53 supports Samsung’s 25W charger and charged our test phone from zeros to full in about an hour. You do however get a USB-C to USB-C cable
Samsung decided to exclude the 3.5mm headphone jack so you’ll need a USC-C earbud for your music and audio.
Overall, the Samsung Galaxy M53 5G is amazing on paper but lacking in a few areas, but is an important M series device for Samsung after all the M series devices are not meant to compete with the A series devices.
